Rite of Blood begins with a description of the background reasons for the fall of the time-honored Yi Dynasty. The corruption and scramble for power among the ruling class, neglecting the safeguard and well-being of the nation, led to the fall of the dynasty. A century later, the same thing happened again. On such occasions, unnamed soldiers rise to save the drowning nation.

C.D., the protagonist of the story, does his duty to safeguard his fatherland with prominent sanity, inspiration, gallantry, and morality. He is depicted as an outstanding leader of a reconnaissance party and company. He was awarded three Choongmoo medals of gallantry and was wounded during the final combat on the 1031 Hill near Hyangrobong. After the armistice, he returned home as a captain. He became engrossed in the struggle for life after being discharged from military service. When he finally ended his life, he showed the love for his brethren and humanitarianism.
